Uruguay vs Czech Republic
International Friendlies
Date: Friday, 23 March 2018
Kick-Off at 11:35 UK
Venue: Guangxi Sports Center Stadium (Nanning).
Czech Republic will be hoping to extend the fine run from the finish of the year when they’ve clinched back-to-back clean sheet wins over Iceland and Qatar in November’s friendlies on the Asian Tour. The opposition will, however, be much tougher this time out, given that the Czechs are about to face the World Cup contestants Uruguay.
La Celeste head into this as massive favourites aiming to fix the poor impression from November’s ties against Poland and Austria (a goalless draw and a 2-1 loss). Oscar Tabarez has a deadly lineup of attackers led by the likes of Edinson Cavani and Luis Suarez and Uruguay will no doubts be one of the favourites from the shadow at the upcoming World Cup in Moscow.
Both Cavani and Suarez have been enjoying superb season with PSG and Barcelona and we do expect them to dominate the pitch in this clash with Czech Republic as well (if Tabarez is to use them from the first minute).
The Czechs will skip the biggest stage competition after coming third in their respective group. Whilst nobody expected them to challenge Germany, finishing four points behind Northern Ireland in second was definitely a disappointing result for Karel Jarolim and his men. Jarolim also has an interesting attacking lineup featuring the names of Michal Krmencik (Czech Liga’s top scorer), Matej Vydra (had an amazing season with Derby County in Championship) and Patrick Schick (Roma’s striker has finally recovered from an injury and is expected to get some minutes here).

Uruguay vs Czech Republic: Head-to-head

The two sides met each other twice at the Confederations Cup back in 1997.
Uruguay came on top in the group stages (2-1), but the Czechs clinched the 1-0 victory in the battle for the third place.

Uruguay vs Czech Republic: Prediction

La Celeste are 1.60 favourites to grab the victory here, but it’s really hard to see the value there given that the Czechs have won four on the bounce coming into this fixture.
Jarolim’s men have been very tough to break down of late and it will be very interesting to see how they’ll cope with the star-studded attack of Uruguay’s.
We’ll go with Uruguay to win by exactly one goal as the value-pick, while punters who prefer safer options can take the Under 2.5 goals FT pick at the odds of 1.66.
