Spain vs Argentina
International Friendlies
Date: Tuesday, 27 March 2018
Kick-Off at 20:30 UK
Venue: Estadio Wanda Metropolitano (Madrid).
The stage is set for a true spectacle on Tuesday evening at Estadio Wanda Metropilitano where hosts Spain are to host Argentina in one of the most exciting friendlies on the day. Argentina have had huge troubles en route towards booking their tickets to the World Cup in Russia as they needed the last round’s victory over Ecuador to break into the top four in the South American WC Qualifications zone.
Jorge Sampaolli’s side showed plenty of defensive woes when they conceded four in a shocking loss to Nigeria in November’s friendly. Nonetheless, Los Gauchos will come into this derby with Spain high on confidence after keeping a clean sheet in a 2-0 victory over Italy on Friday evening. The team looked well-organized at the back, while the attacking line has managed to produce even though neither Lionel Messi nor Sergio Aguero hit the court.
Messi’s appearance against Spain is a game-time decision for Sampaoli. With him in the team, Argentina could be a strong rival for La Furia Roja, but without Barcelona’s superstar it could easily be a one-.way street given that the hosts have a star-studded lineup all over the pitch. Julen Lopetegui’s men drew 1-1 with Germany on Friday evening in Dusseldorf. Valencia’s Rodrigo Moreno has brought his splendid run of form from La Liga to international duties and he was the one who took advantage of the chance to make the start by breaking the deadlock only six minutes into the game with the Germans.

Spain vs Argentina: Head-to-head

Sides have three wins apiece coming into their seventh head to head encounter (interestingly, none of their six previous meetings ended in draw).
Five of six H2H encounters have seen both teams on the scoresheet.
Argentina have destroyed their rivals 4-1 in the previous clash played in September 2010 (goals from Messi, Higuain, Tevez and Aguero).

Spain vs Argentina: Prediction

Argentina have not been convincing at all during the qualifying campaign and the trip to the Spanish capital will be a very strong test for Sampaoli and his men.
We do find the value in backing Spain to get the victory on the home soil at the odds of 2.05.
Since five or six H2H games between these two sides saw the BTTS option “come in”, we will alternatively take this bet at 1.80 odds.
